District 9 Team Member Spotlight

Wanda Morales, Executive DIrector of School Support & Operations

Wanda Morales is the Executive Director of School Supports & Operations for District 9, with almost two decades of experience working in schools as well as the NYCDOE Central Office. Working within the expected complexities of a municipality as expansive as NYC, Wanda has had the opportunity to lead and serve at the forefront of emerging critical issues. Most recently, Wanda was a member of the team who opened and managed the Regional Enrichment Centers (REC) that then Mayor DeBlasio put into place as a response to the child care need for COVID-19 first responders.

As a Bronx native, Wanda is particularly proud that her educational career began in the Bronx, as the Founding School Business Manager for a bilingual middle-high school. With this first position, Wanda realized that she fell in love with the world of education and with the students and that we are called to serve. She was all in and never looked back!

Of additional note is that Wanda has served on the Board of Directors at an alternative charter school as well as for Brooklyn to Alaska, an organization dedicated to expanding the minds of young people by sending them to the Alaskan Wilderness.

Wanda is a dedicated professional who joyfully serves the District 9 community.
