Tanya Reid, Instructional Specialist


Tanya was born and raised in the Bronx. Tanya believes the Bronx represents hope, potential and strength. She moved to Philadelphia and attended Temple University to complete her undergraduate studies. As she missed New York and her hometown, Tanya returned to obtain two Master’s Degrees at Mercy College in the Bronx and Manhattan. Tanya began her teaching career here in District 9 as a sixth grade Literacy teacher. Throughout her career, Tanya taught ELA, Science, and Mathematics and held various roles as a Model Teacher, PBIS Coordinator and School Dean which allowed her to support students and her school learning communities. Her core values are community, justice, and equity. She believes in all students and consistently communicates high expectations.

Her most recent role was an Assistant Principal for six years in District 11. During her time as an Assistant Principal, she led and ensured equity for all students and cultivated relationships throughout her school learning community. She believes “failure is not option” and encourages her students to never settle and reach for their dreams as they have limitless potential. Tanya believes when you educate through a lens of an asset-based mindset, it has a positive impact on all students. Currently Tanya is earning her Doctorate Degree in School Administration, and Policy. Her goal is to positively impact our educational system that will ensure all students receive quality educational experiences to attain lifelong success.
